Sinopse
Transport: Cargo highlights the pressing issue of the growing volume of road freight traffic, which has risen by up to 30 per cent in recent years. The piece takes us into the world of global trade, where speed and accessibility drive economic growth but also bring negative consequences, such as the overexploitation of natural resources, environmental pollution and the violation of labour rights. The story follows a lorry driver under intense time pressure from his employer. The evening brings a chance encounter, and the morning ends with a shocking event that prompts us to reflect deeply on moral and ethical issues and, above all, on our responsibility in a hyper-consumerist, exploitative and exhausting world. — Maribor Puppet Theatre
Cargois part of the Creative Europe's Transport project, created on the initiative of the Slovenian director Tin Grabnar, which brings together six theatres from the Czechia, Estonia, Slovenia, Lithuania and Poland.

Author's bio text
Founded in 1974 in Slovenia, the Maribor Puppet Theatre produces six new shows each year and stages over 400 performances internationally. Since 1990, it has organised the Maribor International Puppet Festival, ‘Summer Puppet Pier’, which welcomes artists from all over the world, as well as the Slovenian Puppeteers’ Biennial. Collaboration with institutions, independent organisations and artists enhances the quality of its programme, broadens the reach of its activities and helps to promote the art of puppetry. It has established itself as a modern and dynamic centre, fostering creative imagination and the language of puppetry amongst audiences of all ages.
