The Blue Caftan

It is with the finest thread of human intimacy and the most delicate point of love's ambiguity that screenwriter/director Maryam Touzani weaves her second feature film, after the internationally acclaimed Adam. Mina (Lubna Azabal) assists her husband Halim (Saleh Bakri), a master tailor who makes caftans in the traditional way in the ancient medina of the Moroccan city of Salé. It is a tenuous marital balance that is unraveled by the arrival of apprentice Youssef (Ayoub Missioui), to whom Halim pays special attention while they create an exquisite blue caftan, and Mina's simultaneous diagnosis of a serious illness.
