None of what is mentioned above is relevant to the performance. In fact, that is what usually happens with light. It creates an atmosphere, helps to emotionally experience the performance and may even be a dramaturgic support, marking the passage of time for example. But the reality is that if the performance, for technical reasons, cannot take place with general lighting, then it’s because it’s worthless. Concerning the story of the performance, it’s nothing but the inside of the head of a man sitting on a park bench and feeding maize to the pigeons. He throws them maize and they won’t eat it; there isn’t much more to be said. Perhaps one should mention the music. The musicians created the soundtrack even before the text was written, based solely on the photographs by Júlio Eme, each matching one of the lighting effects chosen by Ricardo Alves. — Palmilha Dentada
The Teatro da Palmilha Dentada exists since 2001 and aims the cultural and artistic production and dissemination. Since its establishment, it has premiered more than 20 performances. Their work is mostly based on original texts, which use humor—the situational and the absurd—as a key element to expose everyday life and provoke reflection on contemporary themes. With more or less explicit references, these texts revisit mythology and tradition. In November 2021 the company begins a new phase in its activity with the opening of LUGAR, a concert hall located in the city of Porto.
