QUINTAS DE LEITURA

His poetry may be read as a mourning for the countryside as it existed until the late 20th century, a satire of what it metamorphosed into, and an exorcism of the poetic tradition that’s been busy sublimating it since antiquity. With “Estrada Nacional”, the key book in this session, we say farewell to the happy and unhappy fields of our collective and personal memory, hindered by the fear of uprooting, in a tension between departure and (impossible) return. Many artists shall colour the evening: Rui Lage (invited poet), Manuela de Melo (presentation and talk with the invited poet), Maria do Céu Ribeiro andPaulo Campos dos Reis (readings), Rui David (voice and guitar, music between readings), Renato Roque (photography) and E-NXADA (Jorge Santos, Rodrigo Matos and Vasco Gomes), a new circus performance taking inspiration from the session’s prevailing universe. To end the evening, the musical project Aquilo que vocês quiserem makes its first appearance at Quintas de Leitura with the enchanting voices of Ana Conceição, Beatriz Rola, Catarina Valadas, Patrícia Lestre and Sara Silva, and their pocket instruments. The repertoire is based on arrangements and new versions of songs from film sound tracks.
