Rory McCarthy is an English multi-instrumentalist and producer, currently based in Porto. In addition to his solo work as Infinite Bisous and running the Tasty Morsels label, McCarthy has played guitar, bass, synthesizer, and percussion for artists such as Connan Mockasin, Mac DeMarco, Beck, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Metronomy, among others. He offer us a rare experience of performing solo, or more precisely (and mysteriously) performing with a non-human support band.
Crisálida is the term that derives from the metallic-golden coloration found in butterfly pupae, in their third phase of life — the phase where they hardly move. Although many butterfly chrysalises move their segments to play sounds that scare off predators, this chrysalis is no different, it is a state of latency and an embryo. Wait for something to be defined so that you have the courage to come out of this protective shell. Until she flies, she hides in it, she never falls asleep, she lulls himself with cassette tapes and organ chords while she discovers how and where her voice is.
