Teatro Experimental do Porto (TEP) & Teatro La María

TEP (Portugal) and Teatro La María (Chile) unite in a work that reflects on the figure of Fernão de Magalhães and his trip to the Strait, installing different scenic approaches that — running away from a simple historical joke and a chronological order — they question, desecrate and immerse themselves in the adventure of a group of men that face of the unknown, the conquest and the paradigm shift, in a work that mixes styles, opinions and visions; a vehicle of transgression, where the two creative groups (portuguese and chilean) will transfigure their questions, doubts and conflicts into scenes that, perhaps, respond to a performance of sedition. The same sedition that occurred in those old ships in the middle of the ocean and, later, in the bloody conquest of the "discovered" lands.


Teatro Experimental do Porto (TEP) is the oldest Portuguese theater company and a precursor of modern theater, having opened its first show in 1953, under the artistic direction of António Pedro. In 2012, artistic direction was assumed by Gonçalo Amorim, a resident director since 2010.

The Teatro La María company was founded in 2000 by Alexandra Von Hummet and Alexis Moreno. More than twenty creations have already taken the stage, presented both in Chile and in other countries. It has been developing its own scenic poetics, widely recognized in the contemporary Chilean scene, in which dialectic and politics are translated into proposals of a potent scenic character. It was presented in Portugal in 2016, at FITEI, with the performance LOS MILLIONÁRIOS.
