Understage

As the country burns with boredom, Sereias plunge once again with their post-aquatic jazz-punk into the murky waters of Francisco Laranjeira's pre-pixelated junk-zapping videos. A Sereias concert promises an immersive and synesthetic environment. Super 8 movie archives, VHS tapes, analog noise, video feedback, and glitch, manipulated live through virtual instruments and dedicated software, interact with the poignant poetry of A. Pedro Ribeiro and the sonic proprieties of the sound of this colective based in Porto. The performance will include footage from José Alves de Sousa’s films "Porto Abril 1975", "O 11 de Março de 1975" e "O 25 de Novembro depois…" all shot in the streets of Porto during PREC era. The Understage concert will serve to feature the group's debut album, titled “País a Arder”.
