Accessibility

Useful information

For each event in our programme, we provide details of access to the theatres and activities for people who use wheelchairs. To help you plan your visit, we recommend checking the accessible routes available below.

Wherever possible, we also provide information on lighting, sound and other aspects of the performances or activities, including the use of strobe lights, to help neurodivergent people prepare for their experience.

Our theatres also feature relatively quieter and less crowded areas, which can be used whenever a calmer environment is needed.

To clarify any questions regarding accessibility or the specific conditions of a performance or activity, please contact us at bilheteira.tmp@agoraporto.pt.

Portuguese Sign Language Interpretation (PSLI)

In these sessions, the performance will feature interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language (ILGP).

Wherever possible, we aim to integrate the sign language interpretation seamlessly into the staging. However, in some performances, depending on their nature, the sign language interpreter may be positioned at one side of the stage.

Audio description and braille

In these sessions, the performances are made more accessible to people with visual impairments through audio description, a service that describes the visual elements of the scene in real time. The audio description is broadcast via individual headphones, which can be requested from the ushers before the performance begins.

Usually, one hour before each session with audio description, a touch tour is held for people with visual impairments. If you would like to take part, please let us know by emailing bilheteira.tmp@agoraporto.pt.

Under Decree-Law No. 74/2007 of 27 March, guide dogs are permitted, including in the auditoriums. The animals must wear their identification tag in a clearly visible manner, and you may be asked to show their identification card.

We also have brochures in Braille containing useful information and details of performances with audio description, available for consultation at our ticket offices.

Subtitles

In these sessions, the performances are subtitled in Portuguese and/or English. For each event in the programme, we specify the languages used on stage.

Some sessions also include descriptive subtitles, designed to make the performances more accessible to people who are deaf or hard of hearing. In addition to the dialogue, these subtitles provide information about relevant sound elements in the performance.
