Sinopse
Teatro Praga once again joins the Metropolitana musicians – this time, two pianos and percussion – in yet another performance of A Sagração da Primavera [The Rite of Spring], Stravinsky’s ballet originally choreographed by Nijinski. Considering this piece as a milestone in the history of performing arts, it follows the desire to bringing History to the stage and to understand how it reverberates in contemporary times. A celebration of the planet and the place we inhabit degenerates into a sacrificial ritual that will serve as a guiding line for thinking about the inextricable mixture of existence, favouring a dramaturgy of mutual influences. The force of life, of spring, is also the force of abandonment and abdication of all types of bodies. — Teatro Praga
Teatro Praga is a group or federation of artists with its own coat of arms and history. Given that every performance or day is something else, it usually answers the question of what it is by rephrasing the question. Even so, Teatro Praga rejoices with the established order and looks upon the unpredictable variations it subjects itself to as a way of broadening the notion of predictability. Teatro Praga was born in 1995 and is based in Rua das Gaivotas, Lisbon. It regularly collaborates with some of the most prestigious cultural institutions in Portugal and has performed in several European festivals and theatres (in Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, France, Belgium, Hungary, Slovenia, Estonia, Denmark and Poland), as well as in Israel and China.
Metropolitana is a non-profit cultural institution established in March 1992 with the aim of promoting and teaching classical music. It manages two orchestras – Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa and Orquestra Académica Metropolitana – and three educational establishments – Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra (higher education), Conservatório de Música da Metropolitana (basic and secondary level) and the Escola Profissional Metropolitana (integrated teaching).
